Shelves filled with BetaSP, DigiBeta, and HDCAM tapes stretched across archive spaces. Producers searching for a clip often had to rely on spreadsheets, handwritten logs, or the institutional memory of someone who knew exactly where a tape might be stored. Finding the right shot could take hours-sometimes even days. Meanwhile, digital cameras and file-based production were emerging.
